Julibox ~ Cocktail Subscription Service ~ July 2013

If you are new to Julibox, please see my post here.

My husband is 3 months in, to his 6 month Father's Day subscription to Julibox. He's enjoying this service, but I will definitely be cancelling after his 6 months are up. I'm started to feel that I'm paying more for the fancy packaging, than I am for the actual spirits. Since this is a gift, I'll be waiting out the next 3 months. If I were to cancel early, I would incur a $15 cancellation fee.

The curator of the box, Paul Sevigny, focused this month's box on clean, simple flavors. This month's collection is geared to highlight how the same simple flavors and ingredients can come to life in very different ways based on the spirits you use.

My husband was sent spirits to make the Caipirinha from Brazil, and the Mayan Sunset from Mexico.

The Caipirinha features the clean citrus notes of Lime, paired with Cachaca (rum,) and the Mayan Sunset features both Orange & Lime, paired with Herradura Anjeo Tequila & Grand Marnier.

The bottles are securely wrapped in bubble wrap & tissue paper.
6.75 oz. Leblon Natural Cane Cachaca Rum

1.5 oz. Grand Marnier
2 ~ 1.75 oz. Bottles of Herradura Anjeo Tequila
Recipes

Caipirinha

Quarter 1/2 of a fresh lime, and place into a glass. Add 3 tsp.of granulated sugar.

Muddle lime & sugar.
Add 2 1/4 oz. of Leblon Cachaca.
Add ice & stir to dilute.

Mayan Sunset

Add the juice of half an orange to a mixing glass.
Add the juice of one medium lime.
Add 1 3/4 oz.of Herradura Anjeo Tequila.
Add 3/4 oz. of Grand Marnier. Shake vigorously without ice.
Strain into glass with crushed ice.

I'm looking forward to seeing what comes in next month's Julibox!

Julibox ~ Cocktail Subscription Service~ June 2013

For Father's Day, I gifted my husband a 6 month subscription to Julibox, which describes itself as a "passport to cocktail discovery."

Each month, Julibox sends you all the spirits & mixers you need, to create 4 cocktails (2 each of 2 different types.) The cocktails are curated by their world class mixologists, and designed for easy home preparation. Also, Julibox sends you an e-mail letting you know if any additional ingredients are required. In the case of the cocktail in the photo below, we also needed lemon juice, and fresh mint.

Julibox is $40 a month, however if you purchase a 6 month or 12 month subscription, the price drops to $36 a month. Julibox still bills monthly even when committing to a longer subscription, however, if you cancel before your subscription ends, you're charged a $15 fee.

If you would like to continue to be sent monthly boxes once your subscription ends, you're still entitled to the discounted price of $36 a month, and can cancel anytime.

This is the most expensive subscription service I'm subscribed to, but like I said, it was a gift for my husband, and we will most likely cancel once the 6 months are up.  At $36 a month, each cocktail prices at $9, not including the fresh items that are required.

With that said, Julibox is opening our eyes to different cocktails, and my husband is enjoying it!

As you will see, Julibox has an amazing attention for detail!

You receive a card, discussing what cocktails were chosen for the month.
This month's theme is Summer!
On the back of this card, there are recipes to make large batches of each cocktail for entertaining.

See the wax seal? Nice touch, Julibox!

Recipes cards to make individual cocktails, as well as a description of each cocktail.

This month, we're making Sangria Parisienne, and Honey Bee Lemonade.

Everything comes beautifully wrapped in Julibox tissue paper.

Glass bottles are bubble-wrapped, as an extra precaution.

6 oz. bottle of Woodbridge Sauvignon Blanc

Here is my hubby making the Honeybee Lemonade!
