The theme for this month's Birchbox is Finishing School. Birchbox wanted to focus on the finishing touches that make a look special, like the confidence boosting Stila lipstick that was included in my box this month.

Birchbox July 2013 ~ Power Play

Birchbox teamed up with USA Network's Television Law Drama, Suits this month. The character's of the series served as inspiration for some of the samples subscribers received.

This month's box was all about the Power Play & helping subscribers to take control of any situation, and to make the most of every minute, on the clock or off duty. Unfortunately, I don't think I received any of the Suits specific picks.

The season premiere of Suits is tonight, July 16th at 10/9c on USA.

This was traded before I even received my Birchbox in the mail. I don't do lipstick.

Birchbox updates your account with what samples you receive on the 10th of each month, so you can see what you will receiving, regardless of whether or not your box has been delivered yet.

Benta Berry G -1 Face Cream ~ Sample Value $3.66

I love face moisturizers, so I'm looking forward to trying this product, which is made in France.

Birchbox also teamed up with Tibi New York, who designed an exclusive pouch for Birchbox, which you can get free with a $65 purchase in the Birchbox shop. If you don't want to spend $65, so can purchase the pouch for $28.

  Inside the New York Skyline decorated pillow pouch, were two items.

Juicy Couture La La Eau de Parfum Spray ~ Sample Value $2.05

This scent smells nice, but then again, I'm not picky when it comes to fragrances.

This fragrance combines mandarin & while florals.

  Custom designed Birchbox Bobby Pins  ~ Sample value $1.66

These sell in a set of 6. Two white, two green & two blue. These have also been traded!

The total retail value of my Birchbox is $18.32. I paid $10 for this box!

Overall, not a bad box, but could do without the lipstick & perfume sample.

Birchbox ~ June 2013

Yipee! It's Birchbox time!

In my May 2013 Birchbox post, I said that I was going to try to stay away from spoilers this month. Well, that didn't happen for a couple of reasons. Number one, I discovered makeuptalk.com. This site has discussion groups for all the different beauty subscription boxes. The ladies there speculate about what is going to be in each months box, and discuss the pro and cons of each product being offered. And, when I say "discuss," I really mean either rejoice because they really want to try that item, or because they feel it's of high value in comparison to the $10 monthly subscription fee, or curse Birchbox for sending them that particular item because they thinks it's crap!

Number two, Birchbox updates your account dashboard on the 10th, with all the items to will be receiving that month, even though you haven't physically received your box yet.

So, it's basically impossible to avoid spoilers....for me anyways!



Birchbox unveiled it's new look, and logo this month!

The theme for this months box is Wanderlust, and the samples we received are suppose to be from near and far, and be useful during our summer travel adventures.

 

The one item every Birchbox subscriber received, is an exclusive neon pastel shade of Color Club Wanderlust nail polish.

Each color is named after one of Birchbox’s international headquarters: Barcelona, London, New York, and Paris. London Calling, a sunny green, Reign in Spain, a fiery coral, Pardon My French, lavender and Mod in Manhattan, a brilliant off-white.

I received Reign in Spain....I would have been happy with any color other than the off white ~ Blah!

Not bad for a $10 box! I'm most excited about trying the Davines 3-Step System. I have a couple of trades in the work for two of my items, which I will talk more about after I receive them!

Birchbox costs $10 a month.  You can earn points for reviewing items, which you can use in the Birchbox shop ($1 per item reviewed.)

Birchbox included a code on the back of the postcard for bonus points this month – spend $35+ and get 35 bonus points when you use the code BBFRESH at checkout.  (You don’t have to have a subscription to earn points in the Birchbox shop).
